History

Castello Scaligero

The Scaligero Castle, built in the period between 1260 and 1276, the year in which it is mentioned for the first time in the documents; it is included in the defensive constructions of the Scaligeri Lordship, to defend the territory and to observe the vast valley preceding Lake Garda.

The castrum of Ponti is defined as a “castle enclosure”, polygonal and elongated in shape and enclosed within five towers, two of which are real buildings closed by walls, and the other three constituting recesses of the patrol walkway.
Having lost its defensive function since the 18th century, the aqueduct tank (now demolished) was first built and the inside of the wall was used as a vegetable garden and cultivated until recently.
Today, after careful restorations, the complex appears free from weed vegetation and represents the entrance ticket to Ponti for anyone who arrives in the village.

The visits will take place in compliance with all the provisions of the anti-Covid regulations. Correct use of the mask and hygiene of the hands is mandatory.
